Lip balm kit instructions

This is so easy, all you do is melt the base either in a double boiler or microwave oven. A double boiler is easily set up, it is just a bowl on top of a saucepan of warming water.
When it is melted add your desired flavour - Eg. if you melt 50g of base you would add just a few drops of flavour. Stir your flavour in well. When your base cools and sets the flavour will make the base stiffen so don’t add too much. You can always re-melt your base and add more flavour if you need.
I don’t add flavour because I like the flavour and smell of the base by itself.
If  you wish to colour your balms I do have some colours available and will be adding more all the time. At home you can use cocoa powder to colour the balm, you can’t use food colouring because it is not oil based and therefore will not mix into the mixture. If you find that your lip balm sticks are not hard enough, remelt the base and add a bit of beeswax to it. In summer it does tend to need a bit of extra hardening. If the base is too hard you can add almond oil or apricot kernel oil.
To fill your balm sticks I find it is easy to stand them in a bowl of uncooked rice or lentils, this keeps them upright while they are setting. If you have any trouble please don’t hesitate to email me, I am happy to help any time.
